The Faynan Center for Prehistoric Research is a national research facility for prehistoric research in Jordan, providing much needed secure storage, research space, and accommodation for both Jordanian and overseas researchers. The Center is located in the upper floor of the recently opened Department of Antiquities museum in Wadi Faynan, southern Jordan, and provides a practical base for research work, ensuring that Jordanian archaeologists can work within the core of international research programs, and provides training and employment opportunities for research assistants within Jordan. The Center has basic research space, a small library, computers, laboratory, and accommodation facilities. The laboratory is fitted with robust and low maintenance equipment, including a suite of microscopes, to facilitate a range of post-excavation analyses in a safe and secure environment.
